Sometimes we want to give our canine friends food other than their dog food. But often, we don’t know if what we give to them are healthy or not.

While some people foods are bad for dogs, some are actually even beneficial to them. Here are those healthy foods that are dog-friendly:

1. Carrots

We know that veggies contain a lot of nutrients that’s why they are also good for dogs – particularly carrots which contain Vitamin A and are rich in fiber.


Carrots could be your dog’s perfect snack that he could chew even when raw to help his teeth. Although carrots are rich in nutrients, they contain low caloric content, which is perfect for dogs – even for those who are in a strict diet.

2. Eggs

Eggs are known to pack quality protein, vitamin D, riboflavin, and selenium. But in order to have the full benefits of these nutrients, you can feed the eggs raw with the shell and all.

But if your dog prefers it cooked, that is also fine. Just make sure not to put any salt or seasonings in the egg.

3. Apples

We all know that apples keep the doctor away. This is also true for dogs.

Apples contain vitamins A & C as well as phytonutrients. You can make your dog eat apples with the skin on but remember not to include the seeds.

4. Peanut Butter

Peanut butter may go well with bread, but dogs also favor them.

Peanut butter has protein, niacin, and Vitamins B & E. But before giving one to your dogs, check the ingredients if it has Xylitol because this is very dangerous to dogs.

Unsalted ones are usually the best as these are healthy.

5. Yogurt

Next time you buy yogurts for your diet, make sure to get some for your dogs too.

Yogurts can be a healthy snack for them as this contains calcium, protein and digestive cultures. Just check if the yougurt is non-sweetened, non-fat and has live active cultures.

6. Salmon

Salmon is very tasty and at the same time healthy. This is very high in omega-3 fatty acids which is very healthy for dogs.

You can season them or not depending on your choice but just never make your dogs eat uncooked salmon ever.

7. Oatmeal

It is common knowledge that oats pack a whole lot of nutrients. It is also a great diet for your overweight dog because this is rich in fiber and vitamins.

This can be a healthy breakfast not only for you but for your pet dog also.

8. Pumpkin

Pumpkins are not just for Halloween decorations!

You can serve it fresh, canned or cooked without sugars depending on the preference of your dog. It would be a nice addition to your dog’s diet since pumpkins contain fiber and Vitamin A.

9. Turmeric

We all know that turmeric has a lot of benefits for people. Its anti-inflammatory properties and powerful antioxidants help our dog’s joints as much as it does for people. So, we should see to it that we include this in their diet.
